GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Consumers looking to keep their money local can take advantage of Small Business Saturday.
The shopping day began after Black Friday became a nationwide tradition that primarily benefits the big-named brands offering massive discounts after Thanksgiving.
Small Business Saturday highlights local businesses that help the local economy. Tiesha Hogue organized a vendor showcase to do just that.
"I just felt like something was missing in terms of bringing minority-owned businesses together on Small Business Saturday under one facility, so we can support each other and bring awareness to everyone's products and services," Hogue told 24 Hour News 8.
The vendor showcase will include 20 businesses from the Grand Rapids area. They'll be set up at Brown-Hutcherson Ministries on 36th Street beginning at 10:30 a.m.
Mercy Health representatives will be on site providing diabetes screenings as well.
