Breakfast Roundtable Discussion Group

WETHERSFIELD >> A Breakfast Roundtable Discussion Group July 18 will feature guest speaker Anne Bracker, MPH, CIH, an occupational hygienist with the Labor Department’s CONN-OSHA division.

Bracker will discuss “How to Implement an OSHA Compliant Respirator Program, Even When All You Provide are ‘Disposable Dust Masks,’” about implementing an OSHA-compliant respirator program in the workplace.

The event is sponsored by the Connecticut Department of Labor’s Division of Occupational Safety and Health.

The 8:15 to 9:45 a.m. workshop will be held at the agency’s Wethersfield office, 200 Folly Brook Blvd.

Annual golf classic to benefit students

HAMDEN >> The Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce will hold its 24th annual Scholarship Golf Classic July 24 at the New Haven Country Club, 160 Hartford Turnpike.

Eight scholarship students will be recognized at the event, according to a release. The GOAL scholarship program, administered by the GNHCC, “strengthens the connection between the business community and New Haven area college students and young professionals by helping to create a top-notch workforce in the 21st century,” the release said. The golf classic and scholarship fund have awarded more than $70,000 to students since 1995, according to the release.

“We are inviting golfers and businesses to join us in creating an entire day geared toward supporting our youth’s education,” Tony Rescigno, president of the Greater New Haven Chamber, said in the release. “It’s a great opportunity for people to relax and enjoy a day of golf, while giving back to the community.”

Cost for a foursome is $1,100 and includes a full day of activities including a round of golf, free golf shoes, a gift bag, lunch, reception, and a buffet dinner. Donations to the scholarship fund can be made at GNHCC.com. Businesses can join the tournament and also donate funds through sponsorships. In-kind donations are welcome and all donated promotional items will be displayed or handed out to an estimated 175 business professionals. Donations to the scholarship fund are made through the Foundation of the Greater New Haven Chamber and are tax exempt; 100 percent of donations will go directly to the scholarship recipients, the release said.

Registration begins at 10:30 a.m., followed by a cookout lunch at 11:30 a.m. Then, tee-offs of groups of four golfers in a shotgun scramble format begins at 12:30 p.m. A cocktail reception, awards presentation and raffle begin at approximately 5:30 p.m. All non-golfers are invited to participate in the post-tournament activities.

Horbal joins Family Dental Group in Shelton

SHELTON >> Bethany Horbal, DMD, has joined Huntington Family Dental Group, 534 Shelton Ave., according to a release.

Horbal, originally from Berlin, Connecticut, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology and environmental studies from Fairfield University, earned a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from University of Connecticut, School of Dental Medicine and completed a General Practice Residency at New York Presbyterian Weill-Cornell Hospital in Manhattan. She is a member of the American Dental Association, New York State Dental Association, and the American Dental Political Action Committee, according to the release.

“Dr. Horbal believes in giving back to the community and has volunteered at a pro-bono dental clinic in Hartford, participated in a mission trip to Chile to provide dental care to underserved families and children, and donated her time and skills to the American School for the Deaf, the Give Kids a Smile program, the Healthy Adolescent Smiles initiative in Hartford, and the Collegiate Health Service Corps,” the release said.

Horbal joins general dentists Greg Egnaczyk, DDS; Sal Graziano, DDS; Jonathan Mason, DMD; and periodontist Art Adams, DDS. The team provides family dental services, cosmetic dental services, dental implant services, and gum disease and treatment on site, the release said.

Networking in Milford

MILFORD >> Milford Regional Chamber of Commerce will hold a Business After Hours networking event from 5-7 p.m. July 20 at Sensitive Care, 55 Old Gate Lane.

Mary Jane Gleason, former owner/cook of Seabreeze Pizza Plus, will be catering and Jay Rowe will be performing live entertainment, according to a release.

Zac Depiero, local photographer, will have his photos on display around the office for sale and viewing.
