New pizzeria open in Whiteland

Pizza lovers in the Whiteland area have a new place to grab a pie.

Marco’s Pizza is now open at 989 N. U.S. 31. About 30 people work at the restaurant.

The pizza chain also has restaurants on the southside and in Columbus.

Gleaner’s Food Bank receives sponsorship

A food bank that serves Johnson County has received a sponsorship to help feed senior citizens.

The food bank has a $200,000 sponsorship by Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Senior Mobile Pantries.

The money will help in the 21 counties the food bank serves.

Local worker receives award from Duke

Duke Energy Indiana recognized three economic development partners for their outstanding efforts in helping bring growth and economic development to their regions with Partner Achievement Awards.

Dana Monson, executive director of the Johnson County Development Corp., received the award for helping with development opportunities resulting in success across Johnson County.

Foundation names treasurer

The Elba L. and Gene Portteus Branigin Foundation Inc. has appointed a treasurer.

Alison Betts will take on the position during the foundation’s next grant cycle. A lifelong resident of Franklin, Betts currently works for Indianapolis-based Anthem Inc. as treasury operations manager.

Betts earned her bachelor of science from Ball State University, where she studied marketing and interior design.
