The North Dakota Development Fund, a funding program within the North Dakota Department of Commerce, awarded funding for three projects totaling $265,000 at its board meeting held in January. The North Dakota Development Fund was created in 1991 as an economic development tool. The fund also manages a daycare loan program. All 4 Learning Childcare Center (Grand Forks) was awarded a $15,000 loan to assist in the purchase of additional equipment and working capital.
Hulu's live-TV streaming service will cost $5 more per month, while its traditional video-on-demand service will be $2 cheaper. Hulu with Live TV, a cable-like package with ESPN and a few dozen other channels, will cost $45 a month starting Feb. 26. The Hulu service includes its traditional video-on-demand service, which typically carries episodes of network TV shows the day after it airs. That video-on-demand service itself will now cost $6 a month, down from $8, when bought separately.
Caribou Coffee has announced John Butcher has been appointed President & CEO. Butcher has served as President of Caribou Coffee since joining the company in June of 2017. Before coming to Caribou Coffee in 2017, Butcher spent 20 years at Minneapolis-based Target and held a variety of Merchandising and Marketing leadership roles. Butcher replaces Sarah Spiegel as President & CEO of Caribou Coffee.
The East Grand Forks E-D-A Board has a new president for 2019. Current member and former city councilman Mike Pokrzywinski was named to the post this week. Justin Hecht will serve in the VP role.
American Airlines reported a fourth-quarter profit of $319 million, slightly higher than analysts expected, as strong travel demand helped the carrier overcome higher fuel prices. The airline predicted a modest increase in a key revenue measurement for the first quarter.

McDonald's is getting ready to test the idea that bacon goes with everything. The fast food giant will offer free bacon slices with everything ordered between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. local time on Tuesday, Jan. 29, to celebrate its limited-time offer of bacon on some of its classic menu items. Outside of the promotion, the restaurant will offer its Big Mac, Quarter Pounder and french fries with bacon.
General Mills is voluntarily recalling some bags of its Gold Medal Unbleached Flour because of salmonella concerns. The 5-pound (2.26 kilograms) bags have a "better if used by" date of April 20, 2020 and the UPC code 000-16000-19610-0. Customers should discard the product.
The Minnesota Trucking Association (MTA) has named Arthur "Art" Stoen, professional truck driver for Kane Transport in Inver Grove Heights, MN, the 2018 Minnesota Driver of the Year at its Driver of the Year Banquet. Kane Transport is the Midwest's premier transporter of Petroleum, Asphalt, Biodiesel and Ethanol. Art has been driving a truck for 55 years and has driven more than 4.4 million safe miles.
Sweethearts - those chalky little candies with messages on them - won't be on store shelves this Valentine's Day. The New England Confectionary Co. - or Necco - had been making the popular candies since 1886. But the company filed for bankruptcy protection last spring.
