Charter Oak Federal Credit Union has promoted Sonya Armstrong and Michael Ballirano to Assistant Vice Presidents and Regional Retail Managers of the credit union's expansive branch network in eastern Connecticut. Armstrong, who has been with the credit union since 2005, had served as the Branch Officer of Charter Oak’s Dayville, Willimantic and Killingly High School branches. Higher Edge, a nonprofit that guides low-income and first-generation students through enrollment, retention, and graduation from college, is seeking paid internships for its students. The Connecticut Construction Industry Association has awarded its Community Service and Safety awards to Connecticut Water. Connecticut Water and its employees make potable water available free of charge to private well owners when there are extended power outages in affected nearby communities. CCIA also recognized Connecticut Water with a CCIA Safety Recognition Award for the 15th consecutive year. The company serves 59 towns in Connecticut, including Colchester, Griswold, Lebanon, Old Lyme, Old Saybrook, Plainfield and Stonington.

Jonathan Perkins Injury Lawyers has been named to the list of the Top 10 Settlements in Connecticut in 2017 by TopVerdict. Attorney Perkins and his firm fought for a 34-year-old Brazilian woman who was paralyzed in a bicycle accident on a city street, resulting in the Town of Fairfield agreeing to a $2.1 million settlement with the family. GIVING

The Auto Body Association of Connecticut has presented a $10,000 donation to the Connecticut Technical Education and Career System, which includes Grasso Tech in Groton. The donation will help modernize CTECS’s automotive collision repair and refinishing program. ABAC provides support to CTECS by working with collision repair instructors on the program’s curriculum, hosting department heads and teachers at ABAC membership meetings, and attending school career nights to provide students and parents with insight on industry opportunities. The Jewett City Savings Bank Foundation has awarded a total of $3,500 to Southeastern CT Enterprise Region (seCTer) in Groton to support and implement a Comprehensive Economic Development plan designed to stimulate and support growth and prosperity in the region. Local non-profit organizations are invited to apply for Pfizer Connecticut Laboratories’ 2019-2020 competitive grants. Priority will be given to programs that bring STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) to students from elementary through high school.
