Several injured in shooting at business in Madison Wisconsin suburb

Several people were injured when a shooter opened fire at a commercial building in a suburb of Madison, Wisconsin Wednesday morning.

Police received a call at 10:25 a.m. about an active shooter at WTS Paradigm, a software company in Middleton.

Law enforcement said the suspect was "shot and neutralized" and the area is now safe. Middleton Police Chief Chuck Foulke said the suspect subsequently died.

University Hospital in nearby Madison says it is treating four patients from the shooting. Two were in serious condition and one was critical. The condition of the fourth patient wasn't released.

Judy Lahmers is a business analyst at WTS Paradigm. She says she didn't know whether to run or hide when she heard shots about 10 a.m. Wednesday. She says she ran out of the building and hid behind a car.

Lahmers says she knows one co-worker was grazed by a shot but was OK. She says the shooting was "totally unexpected."

"We're all software people," she said. "We have a good group."

Correction: An earlier version of this story, citing local media, incorrectly reported that the shooting occurred at Esker Software. The shooting took place at WTS Paradigm. The two businesses are located in the same commercial building.
