The government says US oil production will rise this year and next year to new record highs. The Energy Department also predicts both international and domestic oil prices will fall from 2018 levels. It's forecasting that benchmark US crude will sell for less than $55 a barrel this year, down from $65 last year. The U.S. Energy Information Administration said Tuesday that it expects the United States to pump 12.4 million barrels of crude a day in 2019 and 13.2 million barrels a day in 2020. Most of the increase is expected to come from Texas and New Mexico.

Consumer prices were unchanged in January, as lower gasoline prices offset the rising costs of housing, clothing and medical care. The Labor Department says the consumer price index rose only 1.6 percent last month from a year earlier.

U.S. employers posted the most open jobs in December in the nearly two decades that records have been kept, evidence that the job market is strong despite several challenges facing the economy. The Labor Department says job openings jumped 2.4 percent in December to 7.3 million. That is the most since records began in December 2000. It is also far greater than the number of unemployed, which stood at 6.3 million that month.

Altru Health System will launch Altru Care Flight, an air ambulance transport

program to serve the patients of Altru Health System and the region.

A Pilatus PC 12 fixed-wing aircraft will anchor the new service and be located at the Grand Forks Regional Airport. The air ambulance will be equipped with the latest and most advanced lifesaving equipment and a critical care trained medical staff. The service should be ready starting in April.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has awarded a total of $1,876,781 to support homeless programs across North Dakota. Last month, HUD announced about $1 million in grants to renew funding to homeless assistance programs throughout North Dakota. Combined, this funding represents a record investment to support state and local efforts across the nation to reduce and end homelessness. Minnesota received $34 million in funding.

The North Dakota Department of Human Services has promoted licensed professional clinical counselor Julie Baumgarn to regional director of Lake Region Human Service Center (LRHSC), which provides behavioral health and other human services to residents of the Devils Lake region. Baumgarn joined LRHSC in 1999 as a human relations counselor and has worked in a variety of roles including advanced clinical specialist, supervisor of the clinical services unit, and office lead and counselor at the center’s outreach office in Rolla.

Ford is recalling nearly 1.5 million pickup trucks in North America because the transmissions can suddenly downshift into first gear. The recall covers F-150 trucks from the 2011 through 2013 model years with six-speed automatic transmissions.

Well-known jeans company Levi Strauss & Co. says it plans to raise about $100 million through an initial public offering. The number of shares to be offered and the price range has yet to be determined. Levi Strauss made its first pair of jeans in 1873.
