HADLEY — UMassFive College Federal Credit Union is running a winter coat and cold-weather clothing drive in its Hadley, University of Massachusetts Amherst, Northampton, and Mercy Medical Center, Springfield, branches throughout the month of January.
These collection efforts will benefit branch communities. Donations will be sent to the Amherst Survival Center, Northampton Survival Center, and Friends of the Homeless in Springfield.
UMassFive welcomes clean, new or gently used coats, gloves, scarves, hats, sweaters and blankets. You may drop off items during business hours to the Hadley branch at 200 Westgate Center Drive, UMass Amherst branch in the Campus Center, Northampton branch at 225 King St., or Mercy Medical Center Branch at 233 Carew St. in Springfield.
PeoplesBankannounces keyappointmentsHOLYOKE — PeoplesBank has announced the appointments of Colin J. Lacey as Village Commons South Hadley Banking Center Manager and Clare Ladue as Hadley Banking Center Manager.
Lacey is responsible for identifying and providing personal and small business customers banking options to achieve their financial needs. He has six years of financial services experience.
Lacey lives in South Hadley and holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Saint Anselm College in Manchester, New Hampshire. He is a 2017 graduate of the Springfield Leadership Institute and a volunteer youth lacrosse coach in South Hadley.
Ladue oversees and manages all aspects of a full-service banking center, including staffing, sales, operations, business development, and community relations. She has 24 years of banking experience.
Ladue lives in Palmer and is a graduate of the Massachusetts Bankers Association’s New England School of Financial Studies. She earned commercial lending certification from the Massachusetts Bankers Association. Her volunteer service includes the Quaboag Hills Chamber of Commerce, where she served on the executive committee, as well as the Ware 250th Anniversary Committee, the West Springfield Partners for Education, the Walk of Champions to Benefit Baystate Mary Lane Rays of Hope, Junior Achievement, Rays of Hope, Lorraine’s Soup Kitchen, and Link to Libraries.
Four new directors join local nonprofitThe Friends of Northampton Trails and Greenways elected four new directors for two-year terms at their December board meeting. All four have interests and experience in the organization’s values that promote alternative transportation models, community strengthening activities and sustainability practices.
Angie Gregory, a consultant with Barrett Values Center, assists in the transformation of corporations, agencies and institutions through values driven leadership. Previously Gregory aided in the successful capital campaign for Grow Food Northampton to procure 121 acres of farmland for an organic community farm and gardens in Northampton. She is currently an Ada Comstock Scholar at Smith College studying fine art and landscape studies.
Tim Deshaies has worked at Florence Bank as director of retail operations since 2007. He previously worked for over 20 years at Peoples Bank, serving as branch manager, assistant vice president and treasurer, security officer and vice president of operations. He received both bachelor’s and masters of business administration degrees from Western New England College. He also earned a graduate degree from the National School of Banking in Cooperation with Fairfield University.
Deborah Henson recently moved to Northampton from Denver and opened The Pomeroy Inn, a historic Bed and Breakfast. She practices law (defends mental health professionals in Louisiana and Colorado ethics matters) and is also a clinical social worker. Henson received her MSW from Tulane University and completed her law degrees at both Loyola University in New Orleans and the University of California, Berkeley.
Andrew Smith is the conservation and sustainability director for the City of Holyoke. He leads Holyoke’s efforts in the planning and implementation of resiliency, sustainability and preservation initiatives. He received his bachelor’s degree from Sewanee: The University of the South and his masters degree in regional planning, environmental planning from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
Smith Brothers/Partners insurance agencies mergeEASTHAMPTON — Smith Brothers Insurance, with offices in Easthampton and West Springfield, and The Partners Insurance Agency, an independent insurance agency located in Vestal, Owego, and Waverly, New York have merged as of Jan. 1. This merger expands Smith Brothers Insurance footprint into upstate New York where The Partners will maintain a local presence while leveraging the resources of Smith Brothers Insurance, one of the nation’s Top 100 independent brokers.
Owners of the New York offices will stay fully engaged in client service and business development. Michael Constantine will run the New York region, continuing to serve clients with the same team of insurance professionals who have also become employees of Smith Brothers Insurance.
