Name change: Councilmember David Cook’s Cook Vineyard Management store at 19626 Eighth St. E. is changing its name to reflect the fact that its offerings include a wider array than just vineyard supplies. The store is now called Cook’s Mercantile. The schedule of its cheesemaking classes for 2019 have just been released. The store is managed by Martha Springer.

Free bus: Starting this week, Bus Route 32, also known as the Sonoma Shuttle, is free to ride through Sonoma Valley. Find the route schedule at sctransit.com/maps-schedules/route-32/.

New Chamber Board: Sonoma Valley Chamber of Commerce announced its 2019 Officer and New Director Slate: Megan Moll, the Red Grape, will serve as President; Mike Dunevent, of Sonoma Raceway, will serve as vice president; John Bast, financial advisor, will serve as secretary; Ramie Hencmann, of Sweet Scoops Homemade Ice Cream, will serve as treasurer. The new directors joining the board are: Jose Alvarez, of Redwood Credit Union; Martin Drainville, Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn; Becky Ettinger, Exchange Bank; Rose Kapsner, Beau Wine Tours; Chris Puppione, Sebastiani Vineyards & Winery; and Jason Walsh, Sonoma Index Tribune.

Hospital issues: Sonoma Valley Hospital has established an email address to answer questions about the hospital’s services. Just email your questions to questions@svh.com.

Open commissions: All prospective City of Sonoma commissioners have until 5 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 27 to apply. Application and list of open positions are online at www.sonomacity.org.

New wine: Bruce Cohn, formerly of B.R. Cohn Winery, has launched a new wine, Trestle Glen. The vineyard is named after the narrow gauge railroad constructed through Sonoma Valley in 1882 that connected the town of Sonoma to Glen Ellen.

Philanthropy: Music Nomad, the equipment care company based at 746 Broadway in Sonoma and run by Rand Rognlien, has launched a program called One for Music. The company is donating 1 percent of its sales to local, national and international musicians and programs that promote music. Last year, the company donated new casual uniforms to the Sonoma Valley High School band.

TV time: The Bundschu winery family was recently featured on a Dec. 5 episode of “Bay Area Revelations: America’s Wine Country.” The series explores why the Bay Area is one of the most famous wine regions in the world.
