Energy group head announces resignation

Louisiana Mid-Continent Oil and Gas Association President Chris John has announced his resignation.

“The oil and gas industry is very exciting, challenging and critical to America’s energy security. For the past 11 years I’ve had the privilege to work alongside some wonderful people through both good and bad times. I’m incredibly proud of all we have accomplished. Louisiana’s oil and gas industry has a bright future and is well on the road to recovery. I believe it’s the perfect time for my wife Payton and I to move on to our next adventure,” John said.

LMOGA General Counsel Tyler Gray will serve as acting president.

John has been responsible for the daily operations and advancement of the oldest trade association in the state exclusively representing all sectors of the oil and gas industry operating in Louisiana and the Gulf of Mexico, LMOGA said in a news release.

He also serves on the Washington, D.C.-based executive committee of the U.S. Oil and Gas Association. He previously served as a transportation company executive, a member of the Louisiana Legislature and a member of the U.S. Congress where he served on the Energy and Commerce Committee.

TGMC honors nurse

Terrebonne General Medical Center has named registered nurse Binu Bashyal with its DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses.

A cardiac progressive care nurse at TGMC, "Binu displays outstanding professionalism and compassion while treating patients. She feels that TGMC has provided her a platform to work in a wonderful work environment and friendly coworkers," the hospital said in a news release.

Nicholls exec to head program

Eugene Dial, Nicholls State University vice president of student affairs, has been tapped to lead the Nicholls State University Higher Education Leadership Master’s Program.

Dial joined Nicholls in 1986 and brings nearly four decades of experience in higher education to the position, including the last 17 years as vice president of student affairs, the university said in a news release.

Higher education administration positions are expected to grow at a rate faster than the average job over the next five years, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Dial will begin his new position on Jan. 9, Nicholls said.

GPS Hospitality wins corporate award

GPS Hospitality has been named BK Corp.’s Global Franchisee of the Year.

The franchisee operates 121 Burger Kings in Louisiana, including several local locations, the company said in a news release. Atlanta-based GPS Hospitality operates nearly 400 Burger King restaurants in 11 states.

The Burger King Corp. on Nov. 13 honored GPS Hospitality at its national convention, where the company was also given the North America Franchisee of the Year Award and the Gold Crown Award, the company said.

Burger King awarded GPS Hospitality based on a variety of benchmarks, including profitability, traffic, speed of service, guest satisfaction, sales growth and new restaurant development.

The company operates Burger Kings at 206 E. First St., Thibodaux; 3863 W. Park Ave., Gray; 6421 W. Park Ave., Houma; 1637 Martin Luther King Blvd., Houma; 1033 W. Tunnel Blvd., Houma; 1209 Grand Caillou Road, Houma; 4870 La. 1, Raceland; and 6426 La. 182 East, Morgan City.

TGMC honored for high quality

Terrebonne General Medical Center has achieved The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval by demonstrating continuous compliance with its performance standards, the hospital said in a news release.

The recognition is based on an organization’s commitment to providing safe and effective patient care, TGMC said.

TGMC underwent an unannounced onsite survey on Oct. 22 that included examination of emergency management, environment of care, infection prevention and control, leadership and medication management.
