Business Live: Thursday 25 October

Shares in mainland China have bucked the trend to inch higher at the close, with the Shanghai Composite pushing up 0.50 points to 2,603.80.

It was a different story across the rest of Asia.

Japan's Nikkei 225 index tumbled 3.7%, or 822.45 points, to 21,268.73, while South Korea's Kospi index dropped 1.6%, or 34.28 points, to end at 2,063.30. Australia's ASX 200 gave up 2.8%, or 164.90, to finish at 5664.1.
