NGA Learning Lab on Building Inclusive Talent Pipelines for People with Disabilities

BALTIMORE — The Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation, the Maryland Higher Education Commission, and the Maryland Department of Disabilities recently announced a new partnership with the National Governors Association. Maryland is one of five states participating in the NGA Learning Lab on Building Inclusive Talent Pipelines for People with Disabilities.

“Maryland is proud to be one of only five states participating in the NGA Learning Lab’s Building Talent Pipeline for People with Disabilities,” said Gov. Larry Hogan. “This is one more step our administration is taking to improve the quality of life for Marylanders with disabilities and to create the right combination of services and opportunities for this community.”

Maryland will join Alaska, Arizona, Hawaii and Indiana to learn about how Wisconsin is improving employment outcomes for people with disabilities through strengthening secondary to postsecondary transition services, supporting and retaining employees with disabilities and partnering with private sector employers on education and hiring initiatives.

Leadership Franklin County

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. — Leadercast is the world’s largest one-day leadership conference, and Leadership Franklin County will host a re-broadcast of the annual event on May 15 at Shippensburg University, sponsored by Summit Health.

The re-broadcast will be held in the Tuscarora Room of the Reisner Dining Hall at Shippensburg University from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The theme of this year’s conference is, “Lead Yourself.” In 2018, the Leadercast stage will highlight leaders who will answer these questions and explain the power and importance of leading yourself first so you can lead others well.

Among the leadership experts speaking this year are:

• Mae Jemison — NASA astronaut, engineer and physician

• Ian Cron — Best-selling author, psychotherapist, enneagram teacher and speaker

• Andy Stanley — Leadership author and communicator

• Jim Loehr — Co-founder of the Human Performance Institute

• Jen Bricker — Acrobat, aerialist, author and speaker

• Michael Hyatt — Author, speaker and CEO of Michael Hyatt & Co.

• Carey Lohrenz — The first female F-14 pilot, speaker and trainer

• Joe Torre — Hall of fame baseball manager
