NEW YORK, NY - MARCH 28: The 2019 Hyundai Kona Electric is unveiled at the New York International Auto Show, March 28, 2018 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City. Here are five things in technology that happened this past week and how they affect your business. Did you miss them?

1 — Electric cars could kill the convenience store, report says.

Morgan Stanley analysts and other experts worry that, if more people switch to electric vehicles, they won’t be making impulse beverage purchases at the gas station—which would have a severe impact on profits for the owners of the convenience stores next to the stations. A new report says that Monster energy drinks would be hardest hit, because 63% of all Monster drinks are purchased in gas stations and convenience stores. (Source: CNET)

Why this is important for your business:

It’s a challenging time to be in the convenience store business.  Amazon is opening up stores that are fully automated, larger supermarkets are growing their delivery services and now this: electric cars taking away business.

2 — A survey shows Amazon is not hurting most small businesses.
