Bricklayers and other workers from general contractor Canaan Construction Inc. of Sylvania, are making progress on a 5,000 square-foot-addition to the West Toledo Carryout at 8256 W. Central Ave. at Centennial Road in Sylvania Township. The $2-million project began in late November and will be finished by late spring or early summer. Plans call for the carryout, owned by NZR Retail of Toledo Inc., to become a state-of-the-art food and fuel center. Part of the existing store will be married with the new addition to make a larger carryout, with about 1,200 square feet left over for another tenant. Crews are adding underground gas tanks to the front of the property and a diesel tank in the rear to accommodate new gas pumps planned for the front of the carryout.
