Here are five things in technology that happened this past week and how they affect your business. Did you miss them?

1 — Holiday bots are stealing Christmas.

‘Toy bots’ are scooping up the hottest toys this holiday season and selling them on secondary websites at higher prices. U.S. Senator Charles Schumer of New York is asking retailers to crack down on these cyber scammers and wrote a letter to the National Retail Federation and the Retail Industry Leaders Association suggesting they investigate the bot issue on their members’ websites—in an attempt to ensure parents get fair access to popular merchandise for their kids. Why this is important for your business:

The software that your business uses today will be full of bots in the future and this will help you better automate your sales and service processes.  But this is very Grinch-like, isn’t it?

2 — Visa is relying on biometrics for future security.

Visa recently introduced its new security roadmap, which will at first focus on biometrics. Joe Cunningham, Head of Risk for Asia Pacific at Visa, says the technology will have an important impact on the future of payments. Although not brand new, it’s now at a point where Visa feels comfortable supporting it, since certain forms of biometrics have reached a stable and secure level. (Source: ZDNet)
