Business workshop coming this week
The Hoosier Heartland office of the Indiana Small Business Development Center will host business workshops for entrepreneurs or business owners this month and in November.
"Launch Your Own Business" is designed to help startup dreamers determine whether a business idea is feasible and sustainable. Participants get a workbook and free one-on-one business consultation, plus access to other free resources and advice.
The workshop will be offered in Miami County from 4-5:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, at the Miami County Chamber of Commerce, 13 E. Main St. in Peru. Registration should be completed by Wednesday, Sept. 20.
It will be offered in Cass County in November. That workshop will take place 4-5:30 p.m. Nov. 8 at the Logansport-Cass County Chamber of Commerce Community Room at 310 Pearl St. in Logansport. Registration for that one should be completed by Nov. 7.
Cost for either session is $25 per person. Participants may register online at http://ift.tt/2xE30va or by calling Ruth Johnston at 765-454-7922.
Funding remains for facade improvements
Applications for the Commercial Facade Improvement Funding Program are still available to commercial business or property owners within the Logan’s Landing district.
The program offers 50 percent matching funding of up to $5,000 per property for eligible improvements, according to a news release from the downtown revitalization organization. Projects that may be eligible for funding include awnings, exterior painting, exterior lighting, windows and doors, facade maintenance or restoration and installation of a new brick facade.
Logan’s Landing is working with three property owners right now, but some funding is still left from this year’s allotment. The funds were set aside to help downtown business owners improve their facilities’ appearance, according to Logan’s Landing Executive Director Becki Harris.
For an application or more information about the program, call Logan’s Landing at 574-722-9345 or email lldirector@loganslanding.com. Funding is limited, so applications should be submitted as soon as possible, Harris advised.
